Virtualized Windows Server 2025 on Proxmox

Bob Pellerin (CTOBOB) virtualizes Windows 2025. Since VMware is no longer a great option for SMBs, he uses the popular (and free) Proxmox.VE. The point is only to show that homelabs and SMBs can be set up quickly and without too much fuss.

The aim is NOT to review Windows 2025 but to show the ease of installation of a Windows Server on Proxmox. Keep in mind there is no consideration for optimization using these default settings. If you are using U.2 or M.2 (NVMe) drives, we would recommend SCSI and Virt for the disks, but that requires the download and installation of additional drivers in Windows to be able to run the installation. If you only have SATA drivers, then this method should be good for you.

Was it fun? Definately!!! Except the part where the window sizing got a little out of hand. 🙂

  • 16 Cores and 16MB RAM, what are you doing on this Server? It's a lot of wasting of ressources.
