VMware Integrated OpenStack 5.x – OpenStack DNSaaS Designate
Designated is OpenStack’s version of AWS route 53. DNSaaS allows a cloud admin to delegate the responsibility for maintaining DNS records to the application owners, entirely based on self-service(DNSaaS). Designate help reduces the load on IT teams and gives users the power to do what they want.
Designate is not enabled by default, VIO provides a simple, UI based approach to enable designate. In our initial release we Support DNS update based on floating IP association only.
We do not support for VMs booted on tenant networks without floating IP, so If you customer is using Provider network or BGPaaS, they would have to create static records via designate API.
