Major Ved Prakash Sharma (Retd) is a technology professional with over 36 years’ global experience with 16 years in Indian Army and 16 years in Telecoms / Networking Industry.
An alumnus of National Defence Academy, Pune, he served in Indian Army (Corps of Signals) for 16 years from 1985 to 2001. He transitioned to corporate world in 2001. In 16 years in corporate world, he worked in companies like Airtel, Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks and Cisco.
In 2017, he ventured into social entrepreneurship with three friends, one from Indian Army and two from Cisco. They co-founded two organisations, Gratitude Farms and Gramonnati Trust.
Gramonnati’s mission is to develop 10,000 rural entrepreneurs over the next five years from amongst youth, women and ex-soldiers.Their Agritech startup, Gratitude Farms is all about Natural Precision Farming. It is a social impact enterprise that aims to provide dignified livelihood opportunities for ex-servicemen, rural women and youth through organic farming, aquaponics, solar drying and urban community organic farming.
The focus is on developing retired soldiers, rural youth and women in these fields with limitless potential for a country like India. Natural Farming, when it is practiced with a synthesis of best traditional knowledge and latest agricultural technologies, offers dignified livelihood with good sustainable income to rural communities. He lives in Pondicherry. He is an alumnus of IIT Kanpur (M Tech, EE), and Military College of Telecom Engineering (BE, E&C).
