Let’s just say all vehicles have problems, but my EV has had far less than the ICE vehicles I’ve owned? Why? It’s a fact that ICE vehicles have far more failure points than EVs and these failure points are designed to fail (known as $$$ for dealers). So far, when I get in my EV, after a night of charging, it’s ready to go. No turning a key or pushing a button and potentially encountering a dead engine or a car that refuses to start. No choking exhaust that fill my garage with noxious fumes. No waiting at the gas station to fill my car and inhaling more noxious fumes. No leaking fluids in my garage or driveway. It’s been a more reliable and cleaner existence since the EV came into my life. Thank you Tesla…
Awsome video with excellent information. Thank you!
I have a 2018 paid off long range Tesla 3. 90,000 miles zero problems. Three years left on the battery warranty.
What about option 3: keeping the car in storage until the price to repair a Tesla comes down significantly with time lol
I only own Hondas, so many of the issues other car owners experience are relatively unknown to me. Then again, I'm a guy that prioritizes pragmatism, utility, cheap and interchangeable plentiful parts, and longitudinal reliability over flash, hype, and quality leather.
Question ! Are newer Tesla models 3s having similar issues at 50k and 60k miles
I wouldn’t expect something like that to occur until 200k
Outstanding video Rich! Would be stoked to see videos on how to's on HV battery DIY.
Jesus Christ! 19 min worth of yacking, which could have been just a quick 4 min informative video! Talking more doesn't automatically make someone smarter. It's the content that matters. In this case, 19 min could have been condensed to 4 min.
Gasoline conversion 😂😂😂😂😂😂 check the kubota diesel conversion 😂
Nice to see you BACK!!! Miss your face ❤❤❤❤😊 in the market for a branded title model x. So we need you!! We are looking / found a Plaid that’s a 2020 about $50k. It’s getting awesome out here. We already have two Tessie’s and may “not” take delivery of the Cybertruck 😅
I wonder if we'll see this start to happen to older model 3's in 2026 after that battery warranty expires for the first model 3s…
It was all of the above reasons 😂
you put it in your front yard and make it into a planter
What would it cost me to convert a straiught 6 G10 early 60's van to electric? I am extremly iinterested
Very honest point of view Rich.
Finally subbed
6:19 love the vid so far as a Tesla owner, but please sync up your mic audio, my brain is barfing
What you didn’t address in your video is. Let’s say you car failed at 130,000 miles. And you need a new battery.
The cost is $15k-$20k but for that cost you are not getting a new battery. You’re getting a refurbished battery with the degradation of a 100,000 battery. In 2023 Tesla no longer offers the ability to buy a new pack they just enter your mileage in their computer and you’ll get a used battery pack based on the mileage. Can’t even pay more for a new pack.
OR – OR – You can put a Chevy 350 LT1 in it.
Just go pull a v8 out of the junk yard.
5 dollars on the diesel and 20 on a scratcher
Why do you keep showing a Rivian vehicle while complaining about other vehicle brand failures? I am neutral but it looks like you are intentionally trying to tarnish Rivian vehicles!!!!!
So buy a Tesla or just buy Honda and drive it until engine blow up
Wow… this channel still exists? I gave up watching this channel when he gave up trying to convert a mini to electric.
Ahh Rich nice to see your using a whiteboard as employed by Jason from Engineering Explained channel on YouTube to show choices at 12:15
Excellent well made well explained video and educational. Keep them coming
This is the funniest channel ever 😅
That honda ridgeline is exactly the same honda jerryrigeverything owns. Cool japanese ev.
I think this was very well put! A battery pack replacement could make sense for people who owned the car new and was able to reap the gas savings and free supercharging, but people who purchased used don’t have that possible reserve to put back into the car. For me, buying a used model S is on par with buying an old used Mercedes or BMW—don’t purchase one unless you’re willing to pay the repair bills. Expensive cars used are cheap, but brand new parts still hold brand new prices.
Go to your local store and buy some Duracells
There's no getting away from the fact that any out of warranty EV is just not worth the gamble.
Why are you complaining? Prices should drop! You’re not the Queen-of-the-Ball (with the newest untested tripe bought for status) anymore and thusly having a tantrum. Your content should stand for itself even after Musky was finally exposed for his malfeasence. iT’s ThE aLgRhYtHm!!! Talk to your hands; They have a lot to say.
You're still interesting, but gosh… advertising for Temu? Do you know what a rip-off that company is for both its suppliers AND its customers?
