What's the use of a Raspberry Pi Pico? #raspberrypi

In this video I demonstrate an unusual use of a Pi Pico – emulating a USB Ethernet adapter to server a website.

This is possible because the arduino is kind of like a souped up Arduino, which comes awake quickly and begins emulating the hardware almost instantly. It’s a cool trick, but I’m not sure it’s useful.

  • Legacy hardware demonstration/function.
Much of the internet that legacy & retro hardware would look for no longer exists; but the need to access for updates & noot processes is hard-coded.
So a unit like this can allow modders, researchers, and enthusiasts to demonstrate or retain internal functions of legacy hardware.

  • Man i thought that was an arduino nano 😅

  • What is a good first project to get into these sorts of things? I just don’t know what would be useful

  • Oh yea. There's no practical use for this. Kids don't learn what rubber duckies are. Zero practical use.

  • Could you do a top loading console (like an NES or SNES) with the Raspberry Pi Zero? Like like a small cartridge that slips down onto the pins?

  • I can think of a few uses, most of them are either for bringing wifi to retro consoles/computers (BlueSCSI does this already), or exploiting MitM attacks on newer consoles.

  • This is "My Pico" weebs can understand

  • How many buttons can you map to it? I have a sim steering wheel for a 1990's DOS game I want to build. Needs something like 36 buttons mapped though.

  • This sounds like a neat way to get a GUI for devices you only need the GUI once to set it up. Don't need to worry about screens and buttons, just plug in the USB and go to the website

  • So look, you change the domain of a website by a replica, let's say Facebook for example, you plug this into someone's pc without them knowing, they think they're logging into Facebook, but they're just sending you their personal information

  • I would love if they integrated this into alarm systems just plug a USB cable and code when IP address start configuring

  • Finally someone answered my question. I have 2 for PicoBoot. What other reason would I buy one

  • YO! Do you think this could be used to emulate the GameCube Broadband Adapter? And maybe use WiFi with a Pico W?
