Windows 1.0 with Steve Ballmer (1986) (HQ, 60FPS)

This is the famous Windows 1.0 parody “advertisement” shown internally at Microsoft, now in glorious 60FPS and high-quality audio! Surreal to think this was only previously available in a highly compressed form for over a decade.

  • Why, what's going on in Nebraska?! I need to know

  • "Well, screw **you***, Nebraska"

    – Microsoft CEO, 1986

  • $99 one time payment. No subscription!! From 2024

  • you paid 99 dollars but came with no ads , you knew you couldn't get the next version for free or if you computer could run the newest version and was not windows update messing your computer

  • Where does this high quality footage even come from?

  • i;d rather have this any day than some slick Apple Ad. It's just too good, for all the wrong reasons.

  • Still wild that this is the man who owns the Los Angeles Clippers.

  • People knew this is great marketing concept. No body could do this or could act like this
now, Steve is billionaire…. better salesman…..

  • steve ballmer, the man who overhyped windows and kickstarted it all!

  • Steve made that 'Except in Nebraska' sound really personal.

  • I don't know why people in the comments are surprised on how smooth the video is. Almost all analog cameras that didn't record on film always looked like this. I believe video quality got worse throughout the 00s because of early internet video. Digital video doesn't look that bad on DV/Digital8 tape or DVDs, but the hype didn't last for that long for those formats. Instead of shooting on camcorders, we have been moving on to DSLR/digital cameras, action cameras, and smartphones, which will obviously not look as impressive as analog/early digital camcorders look and usually have a choppy framerate and a shitty digital zoom that just crops the image. I still shoot on camcorders, and many people don't even realize how good it looks if you deinterlace it properly, or watch it on a CRT screen.

  • Fun fact, this ad never actually aired on TV. It was made as a joke by Steve Ballmer.

  • This guy and the people that made this were definitely stoned off there rockers wtf lol

  • Ftr this was not a serious commercial it was a humorous prep up for employees at Microsoft but it did serve as inspiration for REAL stockholder prep talks later on

  • The still ongoing truth in the software industry; the salesmen take all the credit. The engineers take all the shit
