Windows DNS Create a stub zone

This video demonstrates how to create a DNS stub zone on a Windows 2008 R2 server. My environment has a BIND DNS server running on a Linux box with the IP address of 192.168.42.240. This box hosts my web sites and is the SOA for several ‘Internet domains’. My Windows domain needs access to the DNS records. The stub zone is the best way to set this up.

The stub zone will connect to the Linux box via the IP and copy the SOA and name server information to the Windows DNS server. When queried, the Windows DNS server will then ask the Linux BIND server to resolve the URL.

Cherrycoke.com is not owned by me, it is simply a sample domain I used to teach BIND DNS to my students.
