  • I came here for Windows 11 and WIndows Server 2022 comparison and got nothing but some marketing pitch about how $15000 servers are great. Yeah no shit even the dumbest person can figure out a $15000 computer is gonna be somewhat better than a $300 one. Like what is the point of this video? Repeated the same thing again and again, making me also question my sanity.

  • Why limit Windows Server 2022 essentials to 10 cores though?!

    What a silly limitation

I run an AMD Threadripper (not even the current generation, 2950x), 16 core, 128 GB for a workstation

I thought of going to Windows 2022 server essentials but it only supports 10 cores – wtf was Microsoft thinking with such a limitation?

I may as well keep running Windows Pro (which supports 256 cores) and Linux in a VM (that provides all the server goodies I need)

Microsoft really doesn't get the Pro'sumer aspect of the market do they. Your either a pleb or an organisation in their view

  • Timestamp 13:50. Considering many enthusiasts use 2019 as a desktop, I have trouble believing this is true in 2022. Can you expound on this a bit more for me? Especially because NVidia opened up consumer level GPU's to the VM market without the previous quadro tax.

  • You may aswell compare a bicycle to a train. The two have nothing to do with each other. I have go to 4 mins and have to say, this video is Bull. When I do a clean install of my server there is not over 200 " services as you call them" installed. Things like DHCP, AD, Print server etc have to be installed as a role or feature after the OS is installed.

This video is a perfect example of why not to watch this kind of content on YT. People with half knowledge trying to explain things they do not know much about.

  • Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and thoughts on the latest technologies sir. I greatly enjoy all your work and appreciate sharing with us. Don't have enough words to thank you.

  • At 17:57 Timestamp. I noticed Canada Central. I'm in that datacenter about once every 6 months for a service call.

Security/Access is very secure. Each Data hall, there is no Cellphone service. I have tried both Bell & Rogers. Still nothing.

    Very clean and organized.

  • Its a bit of a stretch to compare a server and a client OS. i dont get the point…

  • 19:40 – did not know Windows 11 supported x86 !!!, but can't find any article to say they don't. found out that it supports x86-64 or ARM64!!!
    20:23 – WAC is expensive ???

  • Let's be accurate here… servers CAN HAVE multi-year support. They do not come with a 5yr warranty unless you pay for it. It's common for servers to come standard with 1 year support (sometimes 90 day!) with optional — additional cost — longer terms. Sometimes support can be extended beyond the initial term, but at some point the vendor is not going to be willing or able to continue to support it.

  • macOS on a $300 laptop? Seeing as Apple doesn't sell $300 laptop, you'd be shoe-spooning an OS onto hardware it was never designed to support, so yeah, it'd suck. Linux on that hardware would actually work rather well. (that's pretty much every android device that has ever existed.) Windows 11 is "not possible" on such cheap hardware because it will not be on the M$ hardware compatibility list. (a supported CPU alone would cost more than $300) A $15,000 workstation would run just about anything "amazing". (most of that money would be on graphics, or dedicated computational GPUs)

  • Somewhat wrong.
All electronics are very similar and ALL PCs are made with lots of off the shelf parts.

I have EVERYTHING: Embedded, home made PCs, OEM PCs and brand name servers.

I do NOT notice much difference, except of course the speed difference given the different ages and CPUs, BUT, as far as reliability: NO big difference!

(They all simply work! And yes, I do have “cheap” hardware that has been running 24×7 for the last 10 years!).
