Windows Server 2003 Build 2296

This is Windows Server 2003 build 2296 (2296.1.beta1.001024-1157) in VMware Workstation Pro. This is the official Beta 1 build, which was compiled on 2000-10-24 and expires on 2001-04-22.

How I got this to run:
VMware Workstation Pro 16.2.3
Backwards compatibility set with VMware 6.5-7.0.
OS set to Windows XP Home Edition
1 GB RAM
1 CPU core
40 GB IDE HDD
Add this line to the .vmx file: acpi.present = “FALSE”
I used a boot disk to format the drive beforehand, but it is entirely possible that it is not necessary. I was trying to avoid the hard disk error I had after setup I had before recording the video.
Immediately when you get to the blue screen when setup starts, keep pressing F5 then press any key when asked and then press ESC and it should give you the option to select “Standard PC” (necessary to avoid problems with getting the OS to work)
For drivers, use VMware 6.5 drivers for video and system devices. Audio should work without drivers.

  • Hi Billy, can you make a video of the unofficial build of Windows 2002 Professional?

  • Good video Billy! I think you will be very suscessful in the future! (Sorry if i mispelled words, im from mexico)

  • Congratulations! We are already on the fifth video and I am already recreating my house and my setup in Minecraft apart from messing around with old versions and prototypes of Windows like Longhorn that never stops surprising me and even more so because of its wallpapers.

  • One of these days i will upgrade from Windows 2000 Server to this build on Virtualbox

Also, you should make videos about Windows Mods

  • I feel like you cooked with this one, like always! Since my summer break started a long time ago i will start binge watching your content for the entire break like how i used to do a few years ago

  • Billy is on fire these days :3, good video bro!, I hope you can bring some other builds from Windows 1, 2, or 3 (if there are builds that you haven't shared before)

  • You can do even the Windows Custom Bootlegs?

  • So the Windows Server 2003 beta builds were similar to the Windows XP beta builds? Interesting.
