Support for Windows Server 2008 has ended. On January 14, 2020, support for Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 ended. That means regular security updates have also ended.
Datacenter is the best and most expensive edition of Windows Server. Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter is almost identical to the standard version with one big exception.
