APIPA: Automatic Private IP Address
169.254.0.1 – 169.254.255.254

-when client unable to get ip address from dhcp server
the client assign it-self an ip address in APIPA range

-check dhcp server( disconnect, no ip available,service stopped)
-make sure dhcp works now
-still if client shows ip as apipa address (169.254.x.x)only
–diable NIC – enable NIC
-cmd – ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

myLaptop – in home network – ip address -192.168.2.224

now i went to office – i connect to office network
-office 192.168.0.0

but it still showing ip add 192.168.2.224

or it shows APIPA 169.254.x.x

disable NIC n enable NIC

or

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew
