Windows vs. Linux: Which Is Faster on a Hetzner Dedicated Server?
Is Windows or Linux faster on a server? The answer is, naturally, “it depends”. But what it depends on might surprise you, and the benchmarks will definitely surprise you. Piotr compares both with plenty of data on Hetzner AX41 and EX44 dedicated servers
Newer Intel chips have both performance cores and efficiency cores. How to schedule which processes run on which kinds of cores is the job of Intel’s Thread Director microcontroller, which is built into the chip (starting with 12th Gen Alder Lake). But not this comment in Intel’s docs: “Thread Director…is optimized for Window 11 Task Scheduler to decide which thread goes where (P-core or E-core). Thread director also works with Windows 10 Scheduler, but is not optimized for it.”
Note that there’s no mention of Linux or even Windows Server, which leads us to today’s video and benchmarks.
