You ever seen or worked with GBICs or SFPs?

my internet provider says they don't have enough space to fit more cables to get me these fiber optic cables. Could I use any of this equipments to get them more room for connection? Sorry for any confusion, I'm from Brazil and things work differently here
Didn't know about those cool learn something every day.
Yes
South Africa accent is the best
Haven't seen gbics in a decade
I saw some at work at my IT internship didn’t know what it was used for but now I know it was a sfp that we used to wire in fiber to our router port on our switch
The problem is that I'm not a networking guy and never tried to. Good to know though
What does these things do? Sorry for asking, this is my first time hearing this. And has limited internet to research such interesting topic
10G copper SFP a must for tight budget
HP used to call their SFP's GBIC's.
For those who know. This is the nerdy version of stacking cash in a rap video 💸 💰
Are you at all south african? 🇿🇦
Thanks
Omg
So i can connect a SFP in my regular moden to accept fiber?
Thank you 🙂
Used those 15 years ago…. 😂
Well yes, SFP's are quite common where I work. But I hadn't seen one before I started. I guess they're not common in consumer electronics.
Isn't it the media converters I read about recently?
Lol we’ve still got catalyst 3500xl’s in service and stacked with gbic copper cables that look like firewire, thankfully we’re switching to catalyst 9300’s with meraki os installed. We’ve also got quadsfp 40gb to four breakout cables at 10gbps each which is neat stuff.
I'd not known of GBIC before.
so thats the thing on the back of my router.
Theres also X2, XENPAKs, XFP, CFP, CSFP, SFP+, SFP28/56, QSFP28/56…
Yep
Take the blue affects away its to much lol
I've always wondered. What research do i need to do when purchasing a new sfp?
