1) Amount of sleep needed.
-Newborns (0-3 months): Sleep range 14-17 hours each day.
-Infants (4-11 months): Sleep range two hours to 12-15 hours.
-Toddlers (1-2 years): Sleep range one hour to 11-14 hours.
-Preschoolers (3-5): Sleep range one hour to 10-13 hours.
-School age children (6-13): Sleep range one hour to 9-11 hours.
-Teenagers (14-17): Sleep range one hour to 8-10 hours.
-Younger adults (18-25): Sleep range is 7-9 hours.
-Adults (26-64): Sleep range did not change and remains 7-9 hours
-Older adults (65+): Sleep range is 7-8 hours.
2) Causes of sleeping problem.
a) Short term.
-by life stresses. Examples: moving somewhere, environmental factors. Such as noisy, too many lights, too cold/hot. (temperature)
b) Long term
-Depression, chronic stress, anxiety.
-Medications (Ex: for high blood pressure & asthma)
-Night shift works (the activities run against our biological clock)
-Caffeine
3) Effects of sleeping problem.
-Gain weight and obesity.
-Chronic high blood pressure(hypertension)
-Poor concentration
-Cognitive slowness (slow process information)
4) Ways on how to overcome sleeping problem.
-Keep a regular sleep and weak schedule.
-Don’t take caffeine 4-6 hours before sleep.
-Minimize noise, light.
-Wake up without alarm clock. (mind set)
