At this time, there is not an equivalent replacement product available.

Do we need to keep the machine where we install esxi turned on in order to use the vm? basically are 2 pc's needed?
Are there websites that sell cheaper affordable license keys for vmware Esxi suite?
NOTE: ESXi does not work with Realtek NICs. I you have one on your machine, Forget Esxi as it wont install, Hardware Compatibility issue.
Instead go for Proxmox.

So I will permanently need two computers if I do this? I was trying to install a linux vm but I am working with a single PC with decent specs. Is there a way around having to have a 2nd system?

How do you know or realize which server to buy that is compatible with VMware 8? I was told that it will not work on older hardware? How old do they mean?
