MAC addresses are designed to uniquely identify devices, like smartphones, within any connecting network. To reduce privacy concerns associated with tracking, device manufacturers use risk mitigation strategies such as MAC randomization to protect their customer’s identity. With randomization, the smartphone sends out a new virtual MAC address every time it connects to a new network. MAC addresses are no longer a solution to identify, locate and manage the user.
BlueportiQ VAULT provides unique global Wi-Fi keys. The key identifies the user anywhere globally, regardless of the MAC address advertised by the device. VAULT keeps track of all randomized MAC addresses and identifies the user.
