In most ISP their DNS server works as the proxy for their clients, they use to provide DNS query to the down level DNS servers. In this video i have elaborately described how to configure the forwarder DNS and how it works with caching only DNS, you will get a clear picture of DNS Query Forwarding and Cashing Behavior.
