Hi Tom, Thanks for the video, PLEASE may you anser q question or 2, I have unifi installed on a server now for my clients, what is the minimum equipment needed at the client site? and how do I addoped the unifi devices over a network with a nat?
Brilliant!
Do you have a video on how to add multiple customers to the controller software hosted in your in house server? I have around 20/30 clients i would love to manage centrally 🙂
Fanboy puff piece
what happens if you loose connectivity and they have 802.1 x configured will the users still authenticate
great content! just for curiosity, you have VPN with all site of your clients right? for collect the data to you selft-hosted controller and monitoring gateways? Greetings from Argentina
Hi Tom, I watched a few of your videos on hosting a unifi controller and managed to set mine up and restore it on a google cloud, but my APs will not connect to the new controller. Would you please direct me to any info on solving this issue? I searched all over the internet and cannot find a solution.
Thanks!
Thanks Tom, as always good insight.
Excellent channel. Thank you for you effort in sharing knowledge.
great video! what msp software do you use? we currently use n-central just curious to what you use
Do you point the USG and the Unifi switches to your hosted controller the same way you set the inform info via ssh on the access points?
Try untangle Home Pro, you'll never go back to the basics of Unify.. The Unifi stuff just a fancy router with some statistics. No good security
Tom nice video, i am guessing you don't use cloud keys on your deployments just your hosted controller, have i got that right or did i miss something, keep the video's coming mate.
You talked about your clients that have multiple locations. Especially when each location had a USG, do you keep each location as a separate site in Unifi? Anyway to keep WLAN settings (password, SSID) synced between sites?
Awesome vid!!!
How does the managing of a clients site work? I currently have my home network with a cloud key, so If I wanted to manage another persons network would I put a cloud key at their location and then associate that with my Unifi account? Or do you have all of their gear on your controller under a different site? I see under the Site section I can "Add new site" or "import site". I'm just curious what your best practice is for client locations.
Hi Tom. Thank you for the video. When it comes to a small business like the salon, do you lease the equipment or charge monthly to manage their wireless? How are you making a profit after an install like that?
One of my buildings is on an interstate highway. One of the things I find amusing is that UniFi helpfully tells me when the cops are out front running radar (in the alerts).
Heh, I've been using the ubnt controller software for a while and never knew about that particular map mode. That changes everything!
This is fine if your just doing managed network, but to call it an MSP is a stretch. MSP would include patch management, remote servicing, managed AV, etc. We too use Unifi on our own self hosted controller and have quite a few deployments, but our clients are on our real MSP plan/s. We do have one labeled MNS (managed network service). Don't get me wrong, I understand where your coming from, but many viewing this would get the wrong idea of just what an MSP is.
Two negatives for the unify wifi: (1) pushing changes from the controller resets the access points, meaning they're offline for a minute or so; and (2) that ubiquiti poe… a pain if you just want to replace the APs for an existing installation without adding another switch. (Does ubiquiti have any APs in their line now that handle more standard poe?)
