How to ads VLANs to a TP Link switch using Omada (3rd Party Router)
In this video I show you how to add VLANs to an TP-Link switch using Omada. In this case we are using a 3rd party router.
The application of VLANs is really simple and can be done in a few simple steps.
I hope you find the video useful, if you have any questions please let me know and don’t forget to subscribe to the channel.

windows server dhcp vlan
Hi, Please record a guide on how to change the management vlan without losing it. I'm setting up a large project and I would like to have everything in order from the beginning. Unfortunately I cannot change this vlan managmet.
Im trying to have a lacp connection to pfsense. Have all my vlans comunicated via the lacp conncetion without loosing connection to the aep. Any suggestions?
I have exactly this situation, where my router is pfsense, and I have Omada AP's and an Omada core switch. Unfortunately I am very inexperienced in setting up VLAN's, but I wanted to try and setup a guest Wifi SSID using a separate VLAN which is isolated from my regular LAN subnet by my router firewall (pfsense). I have setup VLAN 10 on my router and created an interface for it on the LAN port. Now how do I setup the switch ports, including the uplink to the router?
After I set up my VLAN and apply it to a port my switch disconnects from the controller any ideas to why?
Thanks for the video
I've the sane setup, however the VLANs are not getting Internet access from the 3rd party router, how did you manage that?
I’m glad you posted this but it’s infuriating.
I had things setup exactly the way you do but the moment I assign a profile to a switch port connectivity is lost. I’m using pfSense and have verified and re-verified the VLAN setup there too, it’s just maddening.
Thanks for this. But how do I do this with TP-Link Access Points? Having Multi-SSID with different VIDs? What I have is Pfsense > Ruijie switch (which I have already configured and working) > EAP660HD + SDN Omada Controller. Please provide info on this. Thank you!
Thanks for posting this. I have struggled to get this working. I have followed your instructions but the VLAN still isn't working. If I deleted the VLAN number all works fine. I was following Mactelecom Networks example but he missed this vital info out ( Thanks you for posting) I have the S2210MP Switch and 3 EAPs to set up. I want all the EAPS to have it's own ports with it's own IP range. I own a B&B so need a Guest Network & Owner Network. Everything I have done now looks like your example. I too have my own Router/ Firewall (Firewalla – dogs nuts) but still no joy. Any pointers please. My Omada GUI is slightly different to you as it's only a week old. Many thanks for any help, desperate as visitors coming this weekend!
Am I correct in saying that a third-party router will not show up at all on the Omada web controller UI? Also, is it necessary to specify the Default Gateway IP from the Omada side or does it just automatically know what the gateway IP is? Thanks for the video. Subscribed!
I’m struggling setting up Link Aggregation on set ports for switch to switch.
Finally. Been searching the web for this setup. Thank you so much.👍
Hi, Thanks for the video. I am new to TP-Link and was missing a point on getting my VLANs to work so thank you. I am having another issue now. I have all my VLANs setup in PFSense and in the switch all my devices are getting their IP's and connecting to the internet. My Reolink POE security cameras on the other hand will not pass. They get there IP's I want from PFSense and I can open up a web browser and do what I want with them. This is true on my Synology NAS/NVR as well. The issue is with the camera app, I break the app when I change the cameras port from all to the camera vlan. When I change it back and the IP's refresh I can use the app again. i feel it has something to do with Port forwarding but if thats the case I don't think it would work at all. Would you have a few ideas? If you have time. Again thank for the video it did help me get to this point with TP-Link. Oh I'm running PFSense with fiber to a TL-SG2428P and I have the Omada controller.
