How to PORT FORWARD a Garry's Mod Server [2023]

In this video, I will show you how to port forward your Garry’s Mod server so you and your friends can join the server from anywhere!

1. Open Windows Settings (Win + I)
2. Navigate to Network & Internet settings.
3. Navigate to the properties of your network.
4. Scroll down to IP Settings and note your current IPv4 address and IPv4 DNS server.
5. Find the ‘IP assignment’ section and click “Edit”
6. Change ‘Automatic (DHCP)’ to “Manual”
7. Toggle IPv4 on.
8. For ‘IP address’, enter in the original IPv4 address from step 4, but change the last octet to a number between 2 – 254
9. For ‘Subnet prefix length’, enter: 24
10. For ‘Gateway’, enter in your original IPv4 DNS server from step 4
11. For ‘Preferred DNS’, enter in your original IPv4 DNS server from step 4
12. For ‘Alternate DNS’, enter 8.8.8.8
13. Click “Save”
14. Your network may go offline on your PC momentarily. If it does not come back up within 60-90 seconds, change the ‘IP assignment’ back to “Automatic (DHCP)” and retry steps 5-13 again but for step 8, select a different number between 2 – 254 for the last octet.
15. Navigate to a web browser and as a URL, enter in the original IPv4 DNS server from step 4.
16. Login to your router (most routers default to admin/password or admin/admin for the login credentials – check the bottom of your router for more information).
17. Locate the “Advanced” section of your router and look for “NAT Forwarding” or “Port Forwarding” section.
18. Add a port forward.
19. Enter in the IP address you chose in step 8.
20. Set the ports to 27015 (If your router requires a range, attempt 27015-27015 or 27010-27015)
21. Ensure the protocal is TCP/UDP (or “both” or “all”)
22. Start your Garry’s Mod server. If it runs properly, you successfully port forwarded and your friends can connect to your server.
23. To have your friends connect, have them open the console in Garry’s Mod and enter: connect [YOUR IPv4 ADDRESS FROM STEP 8]
