If You're INSTALLING STRUTS, You Need to Watch THIS
Installing a garage door strut on a 9100 model door is not difficult, if you are using a 3″ strut. If you’re installing a strut onto a 9100 model door, a two inch strut is just not the best fit.

I Agree with you! Wayne Dalton uses 3" struts on all their windloaded Foamcore style doors here in Florida. They always cap the built in strut and then rollers are placed in floating housings that attach to the strut itself. Wayne Dalton has to spend HUGE money for their engineering drawing to pass code to hold out 140 mph winds. 3" is better than 2" even at 22 gauge
