This video by Jodo Institute shows how to integrate a biometric device in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Windows Server 2008 R2 includes the Windows Biometric Service (WBS). The Windows Biometric Service (WBS) manages fingerprint devices and can, as an extra measure, help to authenticate a smart card storing the fingerprint template. Windows Biometric Service can enable blending and integrating with third party solutions and concerns for the migrations and upgrades to the Windows Active Directory .
