Why do the most interesting distros attract the biggest asshats?
I need help switching to linux. Is there a site that can suggest linux app alternatives to windows only apps? Is there a way to make my 3070 ti viable on linux?
I really hope Mint's XApp succeeds and become a good replacement for GTK.
Hopefully, they'll implement CSD which follow the DE theme.
Let's go Mint!!
Can you speak to Microsoft charging Windows 10 owners to continue owning / using the operating system they purchased over the coming three years? What is that about? Forced migration to 11? I'll take Linux Mint any day over Windows 11.
I personally use windows 10 right now but regularly experience Blue screens that result in the "please switch to win11 uwu" screens. I need Windows for gaming (Steam and Epic games) and Programming in Python. I'd also like a screenshare option similar to how windows has it. Does anyone have recommendations for me?
I know that Wine is a thing, but I honestly know nothing about it. I dipped my toes into Linux a few times, but always got "scared" of it because it didnt do things the way windows does and i just lost patience.
P1 : "I demand everyone refer to me as 'the one and only lord and saviour of humanity' "
P2 : " no "
P3 : " you have to, freedom of speech is irrelevant "
Free speech doesn't exist here? Yup I am not subscribing to anyone saying this in any shape or form. I never took you for a communist stasi agent. First comes the freedom of speech then your poorly written shovelware you dare to call an app. There is no forum, programmer or dumb youtuber that would be more important than freedom of speech.
>muh icons
>muh code of conduct
>muh standardization
Meh video compared to others
If theming is broken by GNOME, then you will forever be stuck with GNOME's anti-theming and user-hostile design decisions. Appropriate that GNOME was founded by a Microsoft fanboy, as they're adopting the same arrogant attitude as Microsoft.
I'm extremely happy Linux Mint is doing what it is doing with the whole Adwaita/Gnome/Theme thing. I hate it when my applications don't use the window decorations and colors I have defined for my entire system. Go MINT!
"Windows 11 loses users"
That's actually not true, it also shows on the recent Steam hardware survey, Windows 11 is up with 3.54%, Windows 10 is down with -3.38%.
Windows is still the most popular OS on Steam with 96.76%, with Linux being a close second with 1.9%.
YOOOO 40k gang! Orks da best bois!
I am still on Windows10 I don't want to upgrade to 11, Hence I am learning linux here, if only installing n running adobe, Nvidia and games were easy to install on Linux
Gnome sucks and is the worst issue that Linux is facing with this non productivity related lamer desktop and moving in a totally wrong direction. If downdumbed user experiences with an ugly and inefficient UI with terrible cusomization options where a great thing I' could as well be using any Windows later than XP. So, let them go bancrupt!
i always had a dual boot on my pc ..(my 1st linux experience was mandrake kde)2 yrs ago i completly remove windows and im very happy i hope more ppl will take time find the right distrothat fit their needs and move away from windows
So tired of hearing about AI. Copyright or Patent lawsuits are a cost of doing business these days and I don't need or want to hear about them. The businesses involved will eventually work it out one way or another and I don't give a damn.
Campaigning against the Nix parent company for partnering with militaries betrays the spirit of open source and free software, the whole point of it is that anyone can do anything as long as they contribute back.
Gnome at this point should just die it is making the biggest problems with Linux even bigger. It's funny that they hired a shaman to raise money and now they are having money troubles, looks like the supernaturals are not helping out here.
neofetch is archived. What a legend
You heard it here "Linux free as in speech" "no you dont have free speech" shut the fuck up you dont speak for me!
Im using Debian 12 Bookworm and im happy with it. Windows stayed in the past. I have a Workstation Z600 that isn´t compatible with Windows 11, i know windows 10 has suport but i switched to Linux. I used Windows since 2000 but it is no longer my option. Linux Forever
I just switched to NixOS and I can't see myself without it.
The easiest and more convenient for Mint to do is only use Qt or EFL libraries instead of gtk. It’s simple
Freedom of speech is being able to say something without fear of prosecution, not being able to say whatever you want
