Oledcomm Li-Fi

Oledcomm, represented by Olivier and CEO Benjamin of Aletcam, has introduced innovative developments in Li-Fi technology. Last year’s Live Max provided 100 megabits per second for a comprehensive cybersecurity solution. Now fully launched and commercialized, this Li-Fi technology operates at 100 megabits both up and down, making it ideal for environments where Wi-Fi interference is a concern. Notably, it can be discreetly installed as a ceiling fixture or even as a smoke detector, finding adoption in environments like schools and kindergartens.

In Switzerland, there is significant interest, partly driven by a law preventing exposing children under three to radio waves. Beyond educational settings, companies are embracing Li-Fi due to heightened concerns about Wi-Fi hackability, particularly the vulnerability to cyber attacks such as the man-in-the-middle attack. Industries like defense, banks, insurance, and others are gradually adopting Li-Fi to enhance their cybersecurity.

Despite its robust security, concerns are raised about potential hacking through windows. However, the technology’s passive nature and the need for sophisticated equipment make such scenarios highly unlikely. Oledcomm has now unveiled a groundbreaking software solution, the Li-Fi Max Controller, facilitating seamless integration into IT network infrastructure. This software provides DHCP server, handover, roaming, alert reporting, and telemanagement of access points, offering complete control and security.

The Li-Fi Max technology is evolving rapidly, with the introduction of a one-gigabit Li-Fi Max prototype targeting machine-to-machine robotics. The improvement stems from advancements in the analog part of the system, focusing on high-frequency electronics. Oledcomm’s engineers have diligently worked on enhancing the product, resulting in a remarkable progress from 10 to 600 megabits per second within a year, with projections for surpassing one gigabit in the near future.

Plans for consumer integration are underway, with Oledcomm working on a one-gigabit chipset for smartphones. This chipset is expected to be available in prototypes next year, marking a significant leap toward providing Li-Fi connectivity for consumers. As the technology expands, Li-Fi’s applications extend beyond cybersecurity to revolutionary possibilities in various sectors, such as aeronautics, where Li-Fi can significantly reduce the weight of aircraft by replacing traditional cables.

Despite seven years of research and development, Oledcomm has transitioned to industrializing the technology only in the past three to four years. Two confirmed “killer apps” for Li-Fi technology are cybersecurity solutions for offices and aeronautics applications that can save considerable weight in aircraft. The stability and potential for widespread adoption in various settings, including public squares and smart lighting applications, showcase the versatility and promise of Li-Fi technology in reshaping wireless connectivity.
