OMP Mentorship Project: Summer Internships and Beyond – Robert Dahlberg, Virginia Commonwealth University

This session is an introduction to the OMP Mentorship Project. The Mentorship Project focuses on developing the mainframe’s future workforce. Currently the main objective of the project is to run the OMP summer internship program. Student from 6 of the 7 continents have participated (no one yet from Antarctica) have participated. This session will cover the summer internship in detail. How to participate (as a mentor/mentee), how to submit a project, how the program is run and why it is important. Highlighting some of our successes and the some of the program’s greatest challenges. The session will also cover other initiatives planned for the future of the Mentorship Project. And the unique opportunity it affords industry and academia to work together.
