  • Hey, this is great solution. Exactly what I want to achieve.
Unfortunately I am struggling to do the full setup of E3200 with the latest supported version of Openwrt.
Can you please share how you manage to install the needed packages?
I did Openwrt with a TP Link but I was using Wifi and with E3200 wifi is not present.

    Many thanks in advance!

  • Thankyou!

I've been mucking about with setting up my own network all day. This is all new to me. My brain is mush. None of the unofficial OpenWRT firmware (GoldenOrb/WiFix) would play nice with my router (Mofi4500/WE825). Couldn't get PhoneUSB>PC>LAN to work. Here I am now, too tired to get up and even look at my router, I'll be able to fix my problem tomorrow in 5 minutes.

    I sleep.

  • I also have Linksys E3200 (currently on DD-WRT), and I was considering switching to OpenWrt to use iPhone tethering, but OpenWrt database says Wifi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) won't work at all. Is this true?

  • Thanks for sharing the issues you had too. Some people are just like <transition> "Oh hey, look… it works fine. Thanks for watching". This gives me insight as to what may happen when I try, and what you had to go through to fix it.

  • I did this with LuCI and I do not see usb0 or eth1 as an interface

  • Hi!

Having watched this video. I have an interesting project for you and share with us. Can you please do a USB LTE dongle connected to Linksys Openwrt. So instead of using an iphone use an LTE dongle instead.

Tried to use the guides from Openwrt (https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wan/wwan/ltedongle) and https://medium.com/openwrt-iot/lede-openwrt-using-4g-lte-usb-for-your-internet-connection-3e3824580c but the device isn’t seen by the router 😢 I did this 1.5 years ago at openwrt version 18.6 didn’t work. Just recently upgraded to v 19.7.2 this week and still finishing my setup. Wa looking if a solution has been forthcoming. Though I’m silently wishing that version 19.7.2 has fixed issues relating to this.

Watched more than a couple of your vids. Keep it coming. Thanks so much and more power to you 🙂

  • Is this only for a iPhone? If it a LTE router provide USB tethering, is that ok? Or different way? thanks.

  • You know a lot more than me so I wondered if you could help me with a problem please. All my equipment is different to yours but here goes. I have an Asus router connected to the internet via a USB tethered phone on the 3 network. I have changed the APN on the phone to 3's "3internet" APN. Works fine because when I search "VPN" on the phone I can look at the sites it brings up were as normally on "three.**uk" APN they are blocked by the child filter I am trying to get around.(don't worry I am retired:))
I have changed the APN on the Asus router also but it somehow will not use the "3internet" setting. BUT if I replace the phone with my 3G router on an ethernet cable with the same SIM I get "3internet" no problems. My problem must lie with how the phone handles tethering. What do you think?
    Thanks!
