Screen flickering VirtualBox 6.1.48 / 7.0.12 Ubuntu kernels 6.4/6.5 and Fedora kernel 6.6



Heavy screen flickering like this video occurs in the guest window after installing all Ubuntu updates and VirtualBox 6.1.48 / 7.0.12 with Windows or Linux host. All guests running Ubuntu / Lubuntu flavors are affected with 6.4 or 6.5 kernels…

dmesg errors:

Guest settings Display:
– Memory: 128MB
– 3D acceleration unchecked as this is not supported or functional.

Temporary workaround until VirtualBox problem is fixed:
– Downgrade the guest kernel to 6.3 and reinstalling the Guest additions.
– Select X11 instead of default Wayland on login screen (click gear icon lower right corner)
