  • To answer your question, you should throw it away!

  • When was just out of high-school had a CJ-7 late seventies. The frame was set up where it could hold a sb Ford engine with a change in mounts, 289 or 302 if I remember correctly . I had it fixed up pretty well and had a blast running around with it during warm weather. But being a young kid with a good income and still living with my folks my eye soon found something bigger and better. Now I wished I still had it. These new Jeeps just don't take what the old ones did. They're building them for family cars now. You can't just fix a fender or panel puncture with a piece of sheet tin and pop rivets. And use a couple of 4 inch steam pipe for a bumper.

  • Save it and make it a super sleeper jeep or a granny gear or bulldog gear jeep with a super sleeper mode when its not in granny gear

  • The bars coming u[ from the rear axle might be home-made antiwrap bars, since it has been converted to a spring-over-axle configuration. Unique in that the rear is spring-over, the front is spring-under(?)

  • The awesome thing about the old cjs is all you need is a solid frame. everything else is replacable. In fact, AMC literally used whatever they could get to build them. I had an 85 CJ7 that had a Chevy straight 6 motor, Ford three speed automatic transmission and transfer case, Dodge 4wd axles and Wagner lockout hubs from the factory.

  • That Wrangler… The looks suggest every single part of body-work, frame/suspension belong on the scrap metal trailer. Might be beyond rebuilding. What is the required time estimate to make this piece of junk a car/jeep again? 1000+ hours? 2000+? And enough money to buy new used ones in good condition?

  • Keep the best wheel nut… and fit a new Jeep to it…

  • (Just Empty Every Pocket) anything can be made to run again with enough money, time and determination

  • I would keep it right if you read on the comet below me. You'll see that I have more of a passion for the older stuff. I've got a 1960s, Jeep Willie's Kaiser. J 300 I'm gonna be fixing mine up. I wouldn't mind coming out to Florida. Once you got your jeep fixed and going out and doing jeep things

  • Put a little bit of lighter fluid in it and it'll start rite up .. VAROOOOOOOOM 😅

  • I do not think the frame is that great. But get it either Dipped or blasted and Powder coat it. If you doing frame off. Do it 100%. Those jeps with a V-8 engine there will be no stopping you.

  • Ray. The wife is ALWAYS right…even when she is wrong. I would remove the good parts and sell them. Not because I need the money, but because I would want to help out a fellow Jeep lover. There is more than 75% gone on that unit. The end results would not be worth the effort, time, money it will take to make it stock. But if it is a Hobby. Go for it. Will be worth every dirty look you get from Lauren. One thing that will help. For every dollar you spend on the Jeep, put another dollar in a (pile/box/bank account) and give it to Lauren when you finish(sell) the Jeep. Call it the "Thank you for letting me have a hobby fund." I am not sure if you should tell her about the fund. If you do. When you say, "honey. I just spent $500 on *&$*^$% for the Jeep." She will know the fund also went up by $500.

lol. I'm 61 and single(divorced). lol. I didn't know about the hobby-mad money fund idea at the time. I got a Chraftsman radial arm saw for my wife. Best trade I ever made. ($160.00). I still have the saw. 🙂

  • I don't think I've ever done this before, but – Reeeee! – don't you have sharp pocket knife? They are excellent tools for cutting strapping.

  • I think it's a sound project.
    It just needs..:
    Yes.

  • It’s a waste of money! You can find a decent Jeep that needs a little love. You’ll come out way ahead.

  • 😅Hahaha you're going to need a bigger scrap trailer. Best to pull it in jack up the radiator cap, throw away everything that's underneath the cap install newer Jeep and then throw radiator cap away!

  • Ray , do you not like your wife ?

Sex , remember that , you used to get some , give her that jeep and it will be a distant memory.

  • The key in the glove box is likely for an older style alarm and cut off switched off.

  • Dump it yesterday to much wrong with it ! 😵‍💫

  • Too far gone, buy an XJ for a few grand and build that

  • Do a fram off but not to perfection just a restoration

  • Project jeep = endless money pit which in turn = unhappy wife unit. Lol

  • I agree with you Ray. I have restored many a vehicle from almost nothing. It takes time and money but a project worth while. There is nothing more satisfying than finishing a frame off. I look forward to watching your progress good luck wayne

  • How busy you are: she might be done in time for your Children to go to college. she will be happy with that!

  • but if you have a yankum rope you can pull as hard as you wish
