• Hi,

  When a user is connected to domain network and log's in to his/she laptop, he/she receives wallpaper from the server and everything is fine but if the same user is disconnected from the domain network after logging into the laptop he/she gets black wallpaper screen,

  AD Server – Windows 2019 Standard

  Affected Users – Windows 10 Pro(latest build) and Windows 11.

  Observations :

  1) Cached wallpaper file is still available in below location of user appdata in windows 10 and 11 system even if the user is not connected to domain network(verified after logging in),

  %AppData%RoamingMicrosoftWindowsThemesTranscodedWallpaper

  2) But windows 7 users gets wallpaper in their laptop even if they are disconnected from the domain network (Tested)

  My Questions :

  1) Why windows 10 or 11 doesn't use the same wallpaper which was previous received from Domain Controller which is still available in users appdata if the laptop is disconnected from domain network.

• There is no 'Desktop' under the 'Administrative Templates'. Do you have a tutorial to fix this?

• After applying the GPO , should we GPUPDATE on all users system or only at main server….?

• The wallpaper is successfully enrolled on my network host machine but if I am not available in the local network, my desktop wallpaper is not displayed and my screen turns black. is any solution ?

• Why put Symbol of $ at the end folder name.If i didn't put $ at the end what happened?

• It worked for me. But the users are unable to change the desktop screen. And the prevent changing option is not configured. I am using windows 10 Pro 21H1

• One more thing also i want to add that we are using VNC software to take remote of end users' systems. so in that once remotely work is done and then after disconnect remote session background which we have configured through Policy is getting removed and then we need to do either logoff /login or need to crash exeplorer.exe and then reload explorer.exe then only background comes.

• Hi, i am facing one issue that after configured Desktop wallpaper policy its taking time to deploy. Even once its applied on some of the clients after 4-5 days wallpaper automatically getting removed and showing black color wallpaper on many machines. Any solution for that ?

• I followed the video but after 2 months of use the wallpaper is only 1 black color. so what is the error? please help me, please
