  • All I get is a black screen with black icons, but some of the menus (file, edit, help) look fine. 🙁

  • I suppose this is just a raw version of FC. It did not copy any of installed Workebenches, Macros, settings etc. from your regular version.
Is there any way to install it(the new version) into the existing version of FC on one's computer, so the setting and other installed stuff stays the same?

  • The downside of appimages is you have to manually download the next week's version . I found that a real pain.
There are apps like appimage updater but I found it failed most of the time. These are my experience of a few years ago and things may have improved.
Daily builds are also available as a Snap package and as a PPA ,both of which automatically update.
I use the Snap because it was the smallest initial download.
The PPA sometimes lags a new release of Ubuntu and as I install the new release as soon as it comes out ,the Snap also eliminates waiting for the maintainers to launch the updated PPA.

  • I just checked if Github opens behind the great firewall of China, and it does now. It was blocked a few months back. Freecad add on manager still needs a VPN tho.

  • AppImage has "update feature" integrated – it can download new ona by one click.
Runnin 0.22 for some time now, it's awesome.

  • I always enjoy your videos about FreeCad. Thx for that! 👍
Did you ever made a video about the FreeCad appearance and looking?
I know there are some addons like glas to make it more looking like a modern CAD system.
The default look and feel is a little bit like 90th software 😜
